Back in 2021, when I bought my Roborock S7, this was my cleaning mindset:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCleaning is\u2026 an adulting ritual.\u201d
You pull out the vacuum, plug it in, the cord instantly chooses violence and hooks itself onto a chair\u2014
then 15 minutes later your arm feels like you just did an upper-body day at the gym\u2026
and suddenly, out of nowhere, this thought drops in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait\u2026 what am I even doing with my life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thought that was normal. I thought it was required.
Like there was an actual law somewhere that says:
\u201cOnce you\u2019re grown, you must fight dust forever.\u201d
WHO wrote that? \ud83d\ude2d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But when my S7 arrived\u2026 everything changed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes\u2014important detail:
I gave it a name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shangrila<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes. For real. That\u2019s what I still call it to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShangrila, we\u2019re working.\u201d
\u201cShangrila, please sweep under the sofa.\u201d
\u201cShangrila\u2026 I\u2019m leaving this to you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(At this point, it\u2019s not a \u201cvacuum.\u201d It\u2019s a roommate. \ud83d\ude02)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At our house, cleaning is no longer \u201cmy job\u201d\u2014it\u2019s Shangrila\u2019s routine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every day, when the scheduled time hits, it\u2019s like it clocks in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOkay ma\u2019am, I\u2019m on duty.\u201d
Then it goes around the living room corners, under the bed, under the sofa\u2014
cleaning like it\u2019s on a mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when it\u2019s done?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It returns to its charging dock.
Automatically.
Like its life is crystal clear.
It has a home, a direction, a career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me?
Sometimes I don\u2019t even know what to prioritize in life\u2026

Honestly, my role is so minimal now:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once a week: I clean the filter and dustbin

So basically\u2026 I\u2019m not the one cleaning anymore.
I\u2019m just taking care of a robot that cleans for me.

But the \u201clatest\u201d Roborock models now\u2026 the names sound like sci-fi movies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Whenever I see the new models, I\u2019m like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWait\u2026 are you still a vacuum company?
Why are you acting like a robotics company?\u201d \ud83e\udd28<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2705 Roborock Saros 20 \/ Saros 20 Sonic<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At CES 2026, they pushed the idea that the robot is now more \u201ccapable\u201d with thresholds and obstacles\u2014
with AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0 vibes, so it\u2019s more ready for door sills, little bumps, and all those annoying transitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Saros 20 Sonic?
That one goes harder on VibraRise 5.0 (the sonic\/vibrating mop energy),
so the scrubbing is more serious\u2014less \u201cwipe-wipe,\u201d more \u201cI\u2019m actually doing something.\u201d \ud83d\ude0c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one is giving roller-mop era.
They\u2019re even dropping specs like 220RPM and 15N pressure\u2014
like they\u2019re saying, \u201cMa\u2019am, this is not mopping\u2026 this is floor therapy.\u201d \ud83d\ude02<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And of course the dock keeps going ultimate mode:
wash, dry, auto-empty\u2026
Basically the goal is: please stop stressing, we got you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2705 Roborock Saros Z70 (with an OmniGrip\u2122 arm!)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

And then\u2026 boom.
It has an arm.
A real mechanical arm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the moment my brain went:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAh. Okay. So Shangrila\u2019s child will pick up my socks now.\u201d
(And honestly\u2026 that DOES look like the direction we\u2019re heading.) \ud83d\ude2d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apparently there was even a demo concept that looks like stair climbing.
Not sure if it\u2019s mass-market yet, but the direction?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s scary\u2026 because it\u2019s too convenient. \ud83d\ude05<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upgrade trend in one line: less work for you, more life for you<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From 2021 until now, this is how Roborock\u2019s evolution feels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their goal is to remove your workload.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the improvements usually look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Less getting stuck on carpets\/thresholds \u2192 more \u201cmobile\u201d
More legit mopping \u2192 vibrating\/roller\/pressure upgrades
A dock that\u2019s no longer just a charger \u2192 it\u2019s a full maintenance center<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And as the current-gen \u201ctalk of the town,\u201d
even the S8 MaxV Ultra gives that \u201ccomplete package\u201d automation energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because of Shangrila, cleaning stopped feeling like labor.

But if these robots really get legs and arms\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can already see this scene happening soon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
