Back in 2021, when I bought my Roborock S7, this was my cleaning mindset:
“Cleaning is… an adulting ritual.”
You pull out the vacuum, plug it in, the cord instantly chooses violence and hooks itself onto a chair—
then 15 minutes later your arm feels like you just did an upper-body day at the gym…
and suddenly, out of nowhere, this thought drops in:
“Wait… what am I even doing with my life?”
I thought that was normal. I thought it was required.
Like there was an actual law somewhere that says:
“Once you’re grown, you must fight dust forever.”
WHO wrote that? 😭
But when my S7 arrived… everything changed.
And yes—important detail:
I gave it a name.
Shangrila.
Yes. For real. That’s what I still call it to this day.
“Shangrila, we’re working.”
“Shangrila, please sweep under the sofa.”
“Shangrila… I’m leaving this to you.”
(At this point, it’s not a “vacuum.” It’s a roommate. 😂)

At our house, cleaning is no longer “my job”—it’s Shangrila’s routine
Every day, when the scheduled time hits, it’s like it clocks in.
“Okay ma’am, I’m on duty.”
Then it goes around the living room corners, under the bed, under the sofa—
cleaning like it’s on a mission.
And when it’s done?
It returns to its charging dock.
Automatically.
Like its life is crystal clear.
It has a home, a direction, a career.
Me?
Sometimes I don’t even know what to prioritize in life…
but Shangrila? Shangrila always knows the way home. 😅
What do I actually have to do? Just this, promise.
Honestly, my role is so minimal now:
Every 3–4 days: I check the mop pad
(“Shangrila… are you still… moist?” 😭)
Once a week: I clean the filter and dustbin
(“Good job this week. That dust harvest was INSANE.”)
So basically… I’m not the one cleaning anymore.
I’m just taking care of a robot that cleans for me.
Robot-mom era. 😂
But the “latest” Roborock models now… the names sound like sci-fi movies
Whenever I see the new models, I’m like:
“Wait… are you still a vacuum company?
Why are you acting like a robotics company?” 🤨

✅ Roborock Saros 20 / Saros 20 Sonic
At CES 2026, they pushed the idea that the robot is now more “capable” with thresholds and obstacles—
with AdaptiLift Chassis 3.0 vibes, so it’s more ready for door sills, little bumps, and all those annoying transitions.
And Saros 20 Sonic?
That one goes harder on VibraRise 5.0 (the sonic/vibrating mop energy),
so the scrubbing is more serious—less “wipe-wipe,” more “I’m actually doing something.” 😌
✅ Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow
This one is giving roller-mop era.
They’re even dropping specs like 220RPM and 15N pressure—
like they’re saying, “Ma’am, this is not mopping… this is floor therapy.” 😂
And of course the dock keeps going ultimate mode:
wash, dry, auto-empty…
Basically the goal is: please stop stressing, we got you.
✅ Roborock Saros Z70 (with an OmniGrip™ arm!)
And then… boom.
It has an arm.
A real mechanical arm.
This is the moment my brain went:
“Ah. Okay. So Shangrila’s child will pick up my socks now.”
(And honestly… that DOES look like the direction we’re heading.) 😭
✅ (Demo vibes) Roborock Saros Rover — climbing stairs?!
Apparently there was even a demo concept that looks like stair climbing.
Not sure if it’s mass-market yet, but the direction?
It’s scary… because it’s too convenient. 😅

The upgrade trend in one line: less work for you, more life for you
From 2021 until now, this is how Roborock’s evolution feels:
Their goal is to remove your workload.
So the improvements usually look like this:
Less getting stuck on carpets/thresholds → more “mobile”
More legit mopping → vibrating/roller/pressure upgrades
A dock that’s no longer just a charger → it’s a full maintenance center
And as the current-gen “talk of the town,”
even the S8 MaxV Ultra gives that “complete package” automation energy.

Conclusion: Shangrila (my 2021 S7) is already family. The future? It might organize your life too.
Because of Shangrila, cleaning stopped feeling like labor.
It became a background system of the home—automatic.
But if these robots really get legs and arms…
I can already see this scene happening soon:
Robot: “Cleaning is complete. Shall I start the laundry too?”
Me: “Yes… and please—could you also organize my life worries while you’re at it?” 😅
